The Food & Drink Trade Show opens its doors in two weeks! With a wide range of exhibitors from near and far there’s going to be a lot for you to see, touch, taste, and test. From cider to coffee, meat to menus, soft drinks to sweet cakes, packaging to photography, pies to preserves, tea to training, water to wine – the list goes on and on! Did you know there are even some exhibitors coming all the way from China to show you their regional Sichaun specialities?
It’s been a busy year for our exhibitors, and it’s great to hear all about their news and achievements. Many of their products have won awards, and many are also launching new products at the show, so this is your chance to get your hands on both current and future award winners! As if all that wasn’t tempting enough, there are many exclusive show offers for you to take advantage of. Here’s just a taste of what’s in store for you:
The Knights Cider range from Aston Manor Cider is specifically made with traditional bittersweet apples, all grown on the Malverns. Their ciders have won many awards, and 2016 was their best year for awards so far. 2017 looks likely to be another good year, with more awards to come. Recently, at The International Cider Awards, Knights Malvern Oak won one of only 10 Golds, & Knights Malvern Gold won one of 9 Silvers. Sitting alongside the International Brewing Awards, and with only 27 medals up for grabs in the entire category, the International Cider Awards were hotly contested, with beers and ciders submitted from 187 breweries and 53 cider mills from over 50 countries! Knights Cider performed brilliantly. Cider samples from across the range will be freely available at the show for tasting. (Stand G10).
Boddington’s Berries are new to the show. They’re based at the top of Tregoney Hill in Mevagissey, overlooking the sea, and offer truly unique conserves. Boddington’s received a Made in Cornwall award for “Taking Cornwall places” in 2016. The Made in Cornwall judges were looking for companies which traded successfully out of county, and promoted the local area. Their inspirational preserves now have new labels. These have a textured feel and reversed out images of the fruit, giving a glossy appearance. Gold has been added as an additional colour to help the product stand out. (Stand B2).
Ethical Addictions Coffee have been working with the Caixeta family in Brazil since 2010, to produce their first direct trade coffee from Brazil, and a recent visit shows that they are doing really well. Business, farm and life are good, and improving. Not content with doing well for themselves, off the back of their own success they are helping other farmers, developing speciality coffee and increasing income for others too. Through Athos’ business, along with his partners Denilson and Herico, they are looking up, literally a 1000ft higher up, into the mountains at Jacutinga, where a small rural community have the potential to produce exceptional coffee if they can just be taught to invest the time in selective harvesting and better processing. In partnership with them Ethical Addictions are now looking at a project to invest in that community, as they have elsewhere, to bring about sustainable incomes, higher standards of living and consistently fantastic coffee.
